Mission Statement

Leeds DEC believes that global development is a process of change which affects everyone.To actively involve people in this process, we aim to:

  • promote a critical awareness of personal, local and world development
  • encourage participation in decision-making at all levels of society
  • challenge attitudes and structures that contribute to poverty and inequality in all countries of the world

 

We are actively seeking to extend our work with the following groups:

  • the formal education sector, which includes advisors, teachers, initial teacher trainers, INSET providers and young people
  • the non-formal education sector, which includes youth work and adult education
  • campaigning groups with a global development focus
  • local, grassroots community groups
