This is an exciting new project that will enable young people around the world to discuss and debate issues about globalisation using North / South school links.

The project is working with partner organisations located in 6 countries – Nicaragua, Senegal, South Africa, France, Germany and Britain - to produce a series of active learning materials, which will be published and sold from the DEC.

Aims:
• To raise young people’s awareness of globalisation.
• To raise their awareness of international structures and processes.
• To raise their awareness of North/South inequalities.

Objectives:
• To enable young people to explore their perceptions about their place in the world, their relationship to globalisation and to gain understanding of international development issues by using North/South school links to learn from each other.
• To produce materials and models of good practice to enable young people and teachers in the North and South to better understand and teach about globalisation, international structures and processes and North/South inequality.

 

Outcomes:
• Young people’s awareness of development issues raised through the study of globalisation.
• Five active learning resources produced on globalisation issues for use across the secondary curriculum.
• North / South school links used to challenge myths and stereotypes.
• Southern perspectives incorporated through partnerships with organisations in developing countries.
• Dialogue between young people in the North and South on globalisation issues.
