Leeds DEC educating for a just and sustainable world

I am doing a masters in Educational Studies in Belgium and I really enjoy it. Every time someone asks me how I got into education from performing arts (which was my BA), I always mention the DEC and the awesome work that everyone did there as the main factor that really inspired me.

Work with us

Staff

Leeds DEC is firmly committed to diversity in all areas of its work. We believe that we have much to learn and profit from diverse cultures and perspectives, which we believe help Leeds DEC become more effective in meeting the needs of our “stakeholders”. We are committed to developing and maintaining Leeds DEC as an organisation in which differing ideas, abilities, backgrounds and needs are fostered and valued, and where those with diverse backgrounds and experiences are able to participate and contribute.

We have no current paid vacancies.

Volunteers

Leeds DEC needs assistance to enable us to maintain our core services to a high standard for both teachers and the general public. We encourage volunteers/unpaid workers to work with us because it enhances all the work that the DEC undertakes, enables us to reach more people and to provide opportunities for those who would like to find paid employment in Development Education. Our experience is that unpaid workers support and enhance rather than replace the work of paid staff, and bring an added dimension to the DEC because of their independence. It is hoped that local volunteers will strengthen our links with the local community.

We have opportunities in all aspects of our work from general office support to participating in our Management Committee. If you do not see a position here that you are interested in, please email office@leedsdec.org.uk with a cover letter (including the type of work you are interested in and you availability) and your CV.
